There are a lot of hook knives on Amazon and lots of them are dull, improperly made, and just aren’t good.
However there are two, JUST TWO, hook knives I recommend as the others are either garbage or just way too expensive with little to no real benefits to what’s below (looking at you Flexcut).
Best Overall – Morakniv 164 Hook Knife

First off, yes they have a right and left handed versions and they come with and without a sheath if requested!
These are basically the “standard” for a hook knife and are what most people in the world will gravitate towards for most spoon and bowl carving hook knives. I like them a lot and they have improved on past designs over the years. This may be the first and last hook knife you buy, so pick one up here: https://amzn.to/4cKZ7oD
Best for the Budget – BeaverCraft Hook Knife

Need a basic hook knife for cheap? Then the only one you should look at is the BeaverCraft Hook knife!
From what I can see, they only have a right handed version of the SK1S hook knife, but they have other varieties that are a little more expensive as well as a double sided version! Still, if you need a good hook knife for a good price, this is the one to get. Pick one up here: https://amzn.to/3PSmeUt
